Substance Abuse Event at SUNY Suffolk

Suffolk County Community College in Riverhead had us join them for their Substance Abuse Awareness Week. We made smoothies for students while they simulated driving while impaired by running an obstacle course with distorted goggles.

Corporate Health Fair

A major New York investment held an event at the Sheraton New York last night for its female executives offering information on a variety of health subjects. Maui Wowi is often incorporated into corporate health fairs and related events as an incentive for employees to attend and learn what the company has to offer in terms of benefits. Next to us, Health Fairs Direct, the organizers of the event, offered another incentive--parrafin hand waxes (which I admit I did at the end of the evening!). I didn't think people could hold smoothies with their hands tied in plastic bags, but where there's a will.....!

St. John's for Smoothies and Massage

We made our fifth trip in five weeks to St. John's University in Queens -- I think the students have developed a serious smoothie habit! We joined our colleagues from Massage on the Go to create a great experience for the students.

Spa Day at St. Joseph's College

It's getting close to Halloween, but that is not the reason for the face paint on the girls at St. Joseph's College in West Hartford, CT. It's was Spa Day--facials, pedicures, massages, and Maui Wowi smoothies. Many of the girls had our awesome Cappuccino smoothie, which I recommended prior to their going to study. There's no getting drowsy after one of those!

St. John's U. Annual Luau

Party at Bailey Arboretum

Here's Maui Wowi at Rich's 40th birthday party at the Bailey Arboretum in Lattingtown, NY. It's a sensational venue--a historic home set on beautiful grounds. Great food from the Culinary Studio, a terrific Jimmy Buffet tribute band called ParrotBeach that came up from North Carolina, and picture perfect weather.

Wellness Fair at St. John's University

We were at St. John's University in Queens this week for the third time this month--this time for their annual wellness fair. Info on nuitrition, free chiropractic exam, free massage, and best of all free smoothies!

City College of New York Welcome-Back Event

A picture perfect day in Harlem at CCNY's welcome-back event for students. This was our first time working at CCNY and it was a great couple of hours. Dancing (belly dancing and Nigerian dance clubs performed), Caribbean food and about 500 Maui Wowi smoothies!

Welcome Back Event at St. John's University

It's a tough job, but someone has to make smoothies for the St. John's students.

Maui Wowi on the Bar Mitzvah Boat

I've always said it's better to have a friend with a boat than to have a boat. Yesterday we took a cruise on the Long Island Sound and made smoothies for a bar mitzvah party of about 125 people. We set up on the deck of the 117-foot Cayah Michele in Cos Cob, CT. A few drink umbrellas flew off in the breeze (they're biodegradeable). Kids and adults had a blast.

Maui Wowi Joins Hawaiian Wedding Party

Maui Wowi at Yeshiva Downtown and Uptown

It was a whirlwind day yesterday as Maui Wowi brought our smoothies to two locations of Yeshiva University's Stern College for Women in the morning and afternoon and in the evening battled crosstown traffic to set up for the men's Yeshiva College uptown It was well worth the trip--we served about 2,000 smoothies during the day to welcome students back to school.

What could be better than an 80-degree, low-humidity late August day on the plaza of Fashion Institute of Technology making smoothies? With this group of undergrads the big challenge was color-coordinating the drink umbrellas with their outfits! And getting them to come out of their introverted shells--NOT! Lotsa fun, great group of kids. They did a Caribbean theme welcome event, complete with steel drum band AND free flip-flops with the FIT logo. Cool!

Hawaiian Day at Manhattan College

This is the whirlwind week (actually two) of college back-t0-school events for Maui Wowi. Here we are at Manhattan College in Riverdale. Amazing how here and at Fordham you can be in the Bronx but hardly know it! That's fellow franchisee Paul Branca behind the tiki bar counter. We've been doing our Aloha thing all over New York. If you see two bearded guys in Hawaiian shirts on college campuses (who look well over 30) that's probably us.

Maui Wowi at Forest Laboratories Event

Pharma company Forest Laboratories had their yearly company "Day in the Sun" and invited Maui Wowi to make smoothies for about 1000 employees. It was a blistering hot day, which didn't stop employees from some hard core sports--volleyball, tennis, basketball--and lots to drink!

Smoothies in Central Park

Investment bank Brown Brothers Harriman had its annual summer event at the Wollman Skating Rink in Central Park on a hot August night (last year's event was preceded by torrential rain and we definitely prefer the heat). About 1,500 attended and enjoyed great Maui Wowi smoothies, awesome food from Relish Caterers and fun activities including hula hoop and pie-eating contests. Nice to see those bankers get dirty!
