The Stevens Institute of Technology is a beautiful school in Frank Sinatra's hometown of Hoboken, NJ. The campus overlooks the Hudson River and Manhattan skyline. How does anyone get any work done? We were on hand this week for their freshman orientation coffee house event. We did cappuccinos (hot and frozen) to caffeinate the house.

Mercer County Community College Back to School with Smoothies
Orientation took place over two days at Mercer County Community College and Maui Wowi was on hand both days. We think it's easier to find your classes while sipping a pina colada.

Welcome Back Event at Manhattan School of Music
Manhattan School of Music is one of the best jazz vocal institutions in the country -- so my daughter Roxy tells me. She should know: she's off to the Boston Conservatory next week to start her own college adventure. There certainly was a local of vocalizing the other night when we made smoothies for an orientation/welcome back event at MSM. It was a hot night in the Big Apple.

Smoothies and Smiles for Every Child's Dream Beach Day
Every Child’s Dream introduces homeless and vulnerable youth in Suffolk County, Long Island, to cultural, athletic, and social events that they may not encounter as a result of their circumstances. Yesterday was the annual Pirate Back-Pack event on Fire Island. More than 500 kids and scores of volunteers spent a cloudy but mostly rainless day at the beach. If you want to see more happy faces like the ones below, send your contribution to Every Child’s Dream, 400 Townline Rd. Hauppauge, NY 11788.

Ladles of Love East End Food Pantry Benefit
Maui Wowi was happy to be part of this great benefit on Aug. 3 to help feed the hungry on Long Island. John Kowalenko, owner of Hampton Event Management and The Art of Eating founded the organization "because there is an enormous demand for food from local East End families who are out of work and money, can’t feed their families and are met with lack of food when they go to the local food pantries." We played our part by making smoothies til our arms hurt and our blenders were smokin'! Thousands came to the Amagansett event to taste the cuisine of leading restaurants and hear the music of The Band of Brothers and many other great groups.
