Health Fair at Middlesex Community College

We've brought our smoothies to many health fairs, both corporate and collegiate. Today's at Middlesex Community College in Middletown CT (what a really nice college town!) featured all kinds of important health information for students--blood pressure monitoring, gambling addition prevention and treatment, and much more. Maui Wowi Smoothies made it a fun experience for several hundred attendees.

Greek Week at St. John's University

Commuter Day at SUNY Farmingdale

Espresso & Hot Cocoa - Bar Mitzvah Event

Most people think we only do Hawaiian themed events. Today we did an espresso/cappuccino and hot cocoa bar for 200 people at the Metropolis Country Club in White Plains. Event planner Mark Zettler of Life o' the Party designed a cover for the bar that everyone loved. Whether you use our standard tiki bar or do something that fits your theme, we provide the same great beverages--served delicious and fast!

US Coast Guard Has Formal Smoothies

Last night we were on hand for the U.S. Coast Guard Academy's Class of 2011 Formal, which was Hawaiian-themed, and it was a great event. About 400 or so young men and women, impeccably dressed, supremely well spoken, impressively mannered--it made us proud to be serving them! Each incoming class designs its own coat of arms, which adorn Leamy Hall. Each has a Latin inscription. The Class of 2011 chose Aut Viam Inveniemus Aut Facimus, which, as Cadet Charles Wilson told me, means Find a Way or Make One. Great thought! Hope to see you guys again next year.

Maui Wowi Helps ISES Event Stay FRESH

The Philadelphia chapter of ISES held its annual FRESH expo at Harrah's Casino & Racetrack last night and Maui Wowi was there to serve 500+ event planner attendees our awesome, and very fresh, smoothies. Leading caterers from the Philadelphia area served amazing, creative food and drink and planners were treated to themed exhibit areas that gave them new and, well, fresh ideas to plan their upcoming events.

Smoothies and Fashion at Neiman Marcus

Neiman Marcus in White Plains did a great customer promotion today to introduce its Hip 101" event with new lines of fashion and a celebration of Spring. It was a blast - we made Strawberry Banana, Pina Colada and Kiwi Lemon Lime smoothies to complement the fruit skewers and awesome cookies served to very happy customers!

This was Commuter Week at St. John's University in Jamaica, NY. As a reward for standing in the rain to catch a bus, walking vast distances and otherwise coming and going each day to get to this great school, St. John's Student Activities Board organized a week-long series of celebration events--including three visits from yours truly! The last one also featured our good friends from Massage on the Go who eased those shoulder aches from carrying book bags many miles during commutes!

Commuter Day at Fashion Institute

Yesterday was Commuter Day at Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan and the Student Activities added smoothies to the mix. FIT is always one of our favorite places to work--the students are great and, well, fashionable!

Johnson & Wales Breaks out the Blades

No ice-skating rink available for college students at Johnson & Wales? No problem! The student activities group set up a plastic, snap-together rink and a hot chocolate and latte bar (that was my excuse for not skating, had to make the drinks!) and a lot of fun was had by everyone. Johnson & Wales, based in Providence, RI, is a world-class university where students have an opportunity to pursue a career education in business, hospitality, culinary arts, or technology.

Casino Night at Salve Regina University

Salve Regina University in Newport, RI is one of the most beautiful campuses in the U.S. with historic buildings dating back to the 19th century. We brought our cappuccinos and hot chocolates to students for their annual Casino Night at the magnificent Wakehurst Student Center, built in the late 1800s and modeled after a 16th century English renaissance manor house. That didn't stop the students from playing some raucous poker!

Maui Wowi Does the NYC Nightclub Scene

We love doing events that have a good cause attached to them. A very cool gathering to benefit Young Culinary Masters was held at TOUCH in Manhattan last night. The event's focus was Living and Eating Well with sponsors showcasing nutritious foods and personal care. Great food, fun people, and plenty of Maui Wowi smoothies for all (some made with Purus organic wheat vodka--hey if you're gonna drink, it may as well be organic!). Organized by Stacey Prince of Eventagious Events, who can only be called a super-event-planner (this much energy in one person you have never seen!).

Back to School at St. Joseph's College

We always enjoy going over to St. Joseph's College in Patchogue NY for events throughout the year. Great students, upbeat and nice to each other. You can tell a lot about a school's student body by hanging out with them for three hours! Here are some of their faces from this week's Welcome Back Breakfast. We made cappuccinos, hot cocoas, smoothies and coffees to complement their Dunkin' Donuts feast! (OK, I had one - but it was a plain one!)

Most New Yorkers spent New Year's Day recovering from New Year's Eve, but at Yeshiva University's Stern College for Women it was the day before final exams! So we provided hot cocoa, cappuccinos, lattes and mochas to help the girls burn the midnight oil and ace their tests.
